Our Founding Directors have worked hard to build more than just a stock-standard project management and advisory consultancy. Instead, they have developed an offering with a deeply client centred culture, built on the foundations of an historically significant ethos.
You may be wondering, “Why the company name ‘Gripfast’?” The short answer is, it is the Leslie clan’s family motto that we choose to work by, offering our clients steadfast confidence and assurances throughout the entire lifecycle of their project.
Now, for the full story…
For almost a decade, our team has proudly lived and worked by this motto, ‘Gripfast.’ This term was first used by the Leslie Clan, which Annabel is a proud member of, having been founded by Bartholomew in 1067. History tells us that Bartholomew was Margaret Queen of Scotland’s Chamberlain, with one of his many responsibilities being taking the Queen riding!
Often the Queen rode pillion behind the saddle, holding onto the belt of Bartholomew for safety and stability. Tradition has it that one day, whilst riding, they were set upon by brigands! Bartholomew managed to escape with the Queen, yet as they were crossing a swollen stream, the horse stumbled.
The Queen, fearing she would fall cried, “Will the buckle hold?”. Bartholomew, urging his horse to the other side, cried out “Grip fast your highness and I will get ye across!”
True to his word, they reached the other side safely and after the incident, ‘Gripfast‘ became the family motto. This piece of history has carried on through books, Leslie (and McGuire) family lines and now in the day-to-day operations of our market leading project management and advisory professionals.
