This complex project balanced the needs of multiple stakeholder groups with operational requirements and major technical components to successfully deliver this world-class lighting upgrade.

Gripfast is proud to announce the successful completion of the Redcliffe Harness Racing Club Lighting Upgrade, delivered on behalf of Racing Queensland. This $6 million project, running from March 2024 through to April 2025, represents a significant investment in the future of harness racing in Queensland, enhancing safety, performance, and the spectator experience through the installation of modern, high-performance lighting infrastructure.

Delivered on time and within budget, the project demonstrates Gripfast’s proven capability in managing complex works within live operational environments. The upgrade involved the complete replacement and enhancement of the existing lighting system to meet Racing Queensland’s stringent standards for visibility, broadcast quality, and energy efficiency. The new lighting now provides uniform, high-lux illumination across the entire track, ensuring optimal conditions for horses, drivers, and audiences alike — both in person and through live broadcasts.

Working within an active racing precinct presented unique challenges. The Redcliffe Harness Racing Club continued to host regular training and racing activities throughout the construction period, requiring meticulous coordination and stakeholder management. Gripfast worked closely with Racing Queensland, the Redcliffe Harness Racing Club, local residents, broadcasters, and contractors to ensure that operations could safely continue with minimal disruption.

A major technical component of the project involved the underboring of the racing track, enabling electrical reticulation works to be carried out without compromising the integrity or accessibility of the surface. This critical task was expertly undertaken by the electrical contractor, Mega Electrics, whose precision and expertise ensured the successful installation of underground cabling while maintaining track availability for ongoing use.

Gripfast’s project management team oversaw all aspects of delivery, including design coordination, procurement, risk management, and quality assurance. Our proactive approach to planning and stakeholder engagement ensured that construction milestones were met efficiently, with a strong emphasis on safety, communication, and collaboration across all project partners.

The completion of the Redcliffe Harness Racing Club Lighting Upgrade marks a major milestone for Queensland’s racing industry, providing world-class lighting infrastructure that supports both the immediate needs of the racing community and the long-term strategic goals of Racing Queensland. For Gripfast, this project exemplifies our commitment to delivering technically demanding, operationally sensitive projects with precision, reliability, and excellence.
