This Project was the result of the combined efforts of an experienced team delivering high-quality results for a complex live environment project.

Gripfast Consulting is proud to showcase the successful completion of the Booval Fair External Refurbishment project, delivered in partnership with Retail First and Mettle Projects. This milestone project has given the well-loved Booval Fair Shopping Centre a fresh new face, enhancing both its functionality and visual appeal for the local community and retailers alike.

The project involved a comprehensive revitalisation of the centre’s external areas, providing a modernised and cohesive aesthetic that complements Retail First’s commitment to maintaining high-quality retail environments. The scope included the realignment of several shopfront tenancies to improve sightlines and customer flow, installation of new and durable floor tiling throughout key pedestrian areas, and an upgrade of all finishes to create a contemporary and welcoming feel.

Accessibility and safety improvements were also central to the works. The project included replacement of the centre’s automatic entry doors and upgrades to surrounding roadways, kerbs, and pedestrian crossings, ensuring smoother circulation for vehicles and a more comfortable experience for visitors. In addition, refurbishment of the atrium roofing improved natural light penetration and environmental performance—creating a brighter, more efficient, and weather-resilient public space.

Gripfast worked closely with Retail First and Mettle Projects throughout all phases of delivery—from early planning and contractor engagement through to handover—to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to construction. With works delivered entirely within an operational retail environment, meticulous staging and stakeholder coordination were essential to minimise disruption to centre operations and tenants. Our team maintained open communication with the client, centre management, tenants, and contractor teams to ensure all activities were executed safely and efficiently.

Over the five-month on-site period, Gripfast maintained a strong focus on programme management, safety, and quality assurance. The result is a refreshed, inviting external precinct that strengthens Booval Fair’s position as a key retail destination in the Ipswich region. The project’s successful delivery—achieved on time, within budget, and with zero safety incidents—is a testament to the strong collaboration between all parties.

The completion of Booval Fair marks another successful partnership between Gripfast Consulting and Retail First, continuing a shared commitment to enhancing the customer experience across the Retail First portfolio. To celebrate the project’s completion and the collective effort of everyone involved, the team capped off the journey with a well-earned deep-sea fishing trip—an enjoyable way to reflect on a job well done and the strong working relationships built throughout the project.
